Rise of a shooting star
India sees another rising star
and medal prospect in young and talented shooter Jitu Rai. Currently ranked
No.1 in the world in 10 m air pistol category, this 27-year-old Army
sharpshooter also holds the fourth position in 50 m pistol shooting.

India has talented shooters
India always had a good wedge of
expert shooters for the world stage. Anjali Bhagwat, Abhinav Bindra, Heena
Sidhu, Gagan Narang Jaspal Rana and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore have always
performed brilliantly wherever they went. Now, Prakash Nanjappa who is at the
fifth position in 10 m air pistol category joins Jitu Rai in the top 10 list.
Other top 10 shooters
Besides this, Manavjit Singh
Sandhu a trap shooter who occupies 8th position and Sanjeev Rajput 50 m 3
positions shooter in the 10th position. In the women’s section,
Ayonika Paul and Heena Sidhu are currently medal hopes for
India. Ayonika Paul
is a shooter in the 10m air rifle category and Heena Sidhu is a shooter in the
10 m air pistol category. Ayonika holds the 8th position in her
class while Heena clocks in at 4th.

Getting enough speed for Commonwealth games
Rai and Ayonika have expressed their
satisfaction at their showing and hope to do well at the Glasgow Commonwealth
Games. So do a lot of Indians who look to these talented people to bring in
medals and honor for India.
