Wrestlers Dominate: With 36 medals India Take up Sixth Position at Commonwealth Games 2014 Glasgow

Indian medal tally

Indian wrestlers shone on day 6 of Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 capturing 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal pushing Indian medal haul at 10 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze medals. Sushil Kumar was dominant on the mat as he made light work of all who ran into him in 75 kg category.
Equally impressive in dominating opponents on the wrestling mat, Amit Kumar in 57 kg division and Vinesh in 48 kg women’s division. Tomar in men’s 125 kg did not impress in his gold medal match one he could have easily won. He settled for silver.

a)     Chandrakant Malli -- bronze in weightlifting 94 kg men’s category
b)    Harpreet singh -- silver in shooting
c)     Sanjeev Rajput -- silver in shooting
d)    Gagan Narang, Lajja Gauswami, Manavjit Singh Sandhu -- bronze in shooting
L. Sarita Devi won her 60 kg bout against Kehinde Obareh with a knock out but Manoj Kumar defending champion could not proceed beyond the last 8.

In badminton shuttle match, Gurusaidutt and Srikanth won their respective matches and entered pre-quarterfinal stage.
Here is to hoping the shuttle team does well and brings in medals in this Commonwealth Games.
